Professional Experience
As a communications professional, writer, editor, columnist and blogger, Brian has enjoyed a successful career that has spanned more than 30 years. He has worked in a number of senior communications and public affairs roles for a variety of organizations in both the private and public sectors.
An active blogger and social media enthusiast, he has been a frequent guest and regular panellist on CBC Radio Moncton’s Information Morning show. He has also appeared on CBC Radio’s As It Happens, Information Morning (Fredericton), Shift and Maritime Noon; CBC News New Brunswick (television); Radio-Canada’s Le réveil / Nouveau-Brunswick (radio), Michel le samedi (radio) and La matinale (radio); CTV’s Canada AM, CTV Atlantic’s CTV News at 5 and CTV News at 6.
From 2005 to 2017, he wrote Hump Day, a general interest weekly column for the Moncton Times & Transcript. From 2010-2013, he also wrote a social media column called Social Media Matters for the newspaper. Throughout his career, he has written nearly 1,000 individual newspaper columns on subjects ranging from general interest, humour, social media, entertainment and restaurant reviews.
He is a member of the Canadian Freelance Guild (CFG), National Society of Newspaper Columnists, Canadian Association of Journalists, Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick, Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton and Conseil économique du Nouveau-Brunswick. He is also a member of the Alma City Club and serves on its Board of Governors.
Fluently bilingual, he is a graduate of the University of King’s College with an honours degree in journalism and is an active member of the university’s alumni association. In 2013, he was awarded the Order of the Ancient Commoner from King’s in recognition of his “selfless dedication to the University.”
In 2022, he was awarded the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal by the Province of New Brunswick in recognition of his community service.
Today, he is president of his own communications consulting agency, Bricor Communications, and works for a number of major clients in the areas of strategic communications, government and media relations, writing, editing, translation and social media. As an entrepreneur, he also owns an online retail store selling specialty gift products – Acadistuff.com. In 2024, he released the bestselling recipe book Acadian Recipes and More – Volume 1.
